What is a Mouth Guard?
A mouth guard is a customized appliance that covers your teeth and protects them from blows to the face and head. When you contact our office, we can schedule an appointment with Dr. Brett M. Barney and fit you with the perfect sport’s mouth guard in Tucson, Arizona.
Types of Mouth Guards Available
There are three types of mouth guards we offer at Desert Dental Group, and which you can choose that are tear-resistant, comfortable, and resilient. The three types of mouth guards include:
– Custom-made mouth guards – This appliance is one that is most recommended. Your dentist is able to take impressions of your teeth, to ensure the most comfortable fit, along with the best protection.
– Stock mouth guards – Preformed and read to wear, these less expensive mouth guards don’t fit very well, and can be bulky and make breathing and talking difficult. The dentist usually shies away from recommending them.
– Boil and bite mouth guards, which come in a pre-formed shape, and usually altered by boiling in water, then biting into the cooled plastic to fit with your mouth.
