As you make your resolutions for 2018, perhaps start with something basic: take better care of your teeth! Of course, taking care of your teeth includes taking care of your toothbrush. Doing both will save you the hassle and potentially even discomfort. Let’s review some basics of caring for your toothbrush and brushing your teeth.
To properly brush your teeth, start with the proper brush. Choose a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid any unnecessary damage to your enamel and gum tissue. Replace your brush every 3-4 months to maintain a clean and soft brush.
Place the brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums and use short back and forth strokes to clean and polish all surfaces of your teeth. Be sure to brush all surfaces of your teeth! This includes the outside, inside, and chewing surfaces of your teeth. This should be done for a full 2 minutes twice a day. It can be a difficult habit to start, but the payoff is huge!
