When you’re a teenager, your smile plays a key role in your self-confidence and self-esteem. This is why it’s important to do all you can to maintain a strong and successful oral health as a teenager. That way you can have the stunning and healthy smile you deserve. To help you keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape, our Desert Dental Group dental team encourages you to do the following things:

Keep up on oral hygiene: Oral hygiene is one of the best ways to maintain a top-notch smile and oral health. So, make sure you brush your teeth every morning and every night, floss your smile right before bed and rinse your mouth daily. It’s also strongly recommended to visit Dr. Brett M. Barney every six months for a routine cleaning and exam.

Think about your wisdom teeth: If you have yet to get your wisdom teeth removed, it’s time to consider doing so. Oftentimes, wisdom teeth cause more harm than good, which is why they need to be extracted more often than not. So, please talk to your dentist about the status of your wisdom teeth when you get the chance.

Consider orthodontic treatment: Orthodontic treatment can align your teeth and give you a beautiful smile for a lifetime. This can boost your self-confidence now as a teen and help you love your appearance as an adult. So, if you have crooked teeth, feel free to consider orthodontic treatment.

Avoid tobacco products: Tobacco products are enemies to your smile and overall health, even though they might seem cool. Not only does tobacco increase your chances of falling victim to cancer, but it can also damage your teeth and severely discolor your smile. So, please avoid tobacco products at all costs.
