Your dental crown is extremely durable, but it still needs your care to stay that way. In fact, you should do all you can to keep it in excellent shape so it will last you a long time. That’s why Dr. Brett M. Barney and our dental team at Desert Dental Group have some tips for you.
First, keep up your oral hygiene routine. You’ll need to brush twice a day, floss once a day, and rinse with mouthwash daily. When you look for new dental products, choose only those that carry the ADA seal on the package.
You’ll also want to visit your dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and dental exam. Our team will take a look at your crown and make sure it is functioning well and also take the time to clean it thoroughly.
Lastly, you may want to watch what you are placing in your mouth near the crown, especially after it is first placed in your mouth. Avoid sticky foods like caramel or starbursts until the crown is fully hardened, and avoid opening packages or crunching ice with your teeth.
